We've just had some great pictures back of our recent Merlesque mermaid cabaret performance at the amazing Honeysuckle Revue. Thanks to the very talented Pradeep Lawrence for the shots! We had a great time performing at the Revue alongside some amazing, creative and crazy acts - can't wait til it's back in Cambridge and London in the spring.

Tickets are still available for the amazing Honeysuckle Revue tonight in Balham, London! The Merlesque Mermaids will be appearing with our hilarious musical comedy cabaret act, with songs about mermaid life in the human world, alongside a whole host of other incredible fairytale-themed performances. The Honeysuckle Revue has everything from incredible bellydancers through to wild burlesque and hilarious ukulele performance! Doors open at 7.30 with the show starting at 8pm. Tickets are cheaper if you buy in advance - get yours here now! But don't worry too much if you can't make it tonight - we'll also be appearing in Cambridge on the 21st September.
As you can see from the pictures, Mermaid Melusine was debuting a brand new green tail and matching green-and-gold shell top, meaning that our cabaret costumes are now more co-ordinated than ever! As the guests finished up their starters, we moved on to our Valentine's-themed musical comedy act, including some saucy details about romance under the sea, and a couple of our favourite mermaid cabaret songs. It went down a treat with the audience, and hopefully we have managed to capture the set on film as well, so keep an eye on our YouTube channel for further developments!
We had a wonderful time at the Willow Tree, and hopefully we will be returning there later on this year for more mermaid fun! ![]() Mermaid Melusine reports: What a start to 2016! Merlesque mermaid Ondine has been featured in Cambridge Magazine, in a special feature on people doing their dream jobs. As well as our very own professional mermaid, the article includes interviews with a firefighter, explorer, novelist, fashion designer, and more - so it's well worth a read. You can read the article by clicking on the link above and then going to "Read the latest edition" on the right-hand side of the page. Mermaid Ondine's interview is then on page 70 of the magazine. Let us know what you think! ![]() Mermaid Ondine reports: Mermaid Melusine was up bright and early this morning to chat to the lovely Lottie on the Star Radio Breakfast show. As you can see from the picture opposite, she seems to match the studio decor pretty much perfectly. If you'd like to listen to the interview, (in which Melusine and Lottie chat about everything from mermaid life to burly men, and the challenges that escalators present to mermaids) you can hear the whole thing by clicking here!
So if you're in Cambridge today, why not pop along to the Ooshi shop, try some delicious bubble tea and get the chance to meet a real life mermaid and have your photo taken with her? Mermaid Ondine would love to see you there!
Mermaid Ondine reports: Phew! Our mermaids have been so busy lately we haven't had much time to update the blog. But we wanted to share this video we put together a little earlier in the week, featuring mermaid Melusine and myself - in a tree. It was quite a challenge to get us up there, I can assure you... The song we're singing has just been retired from our summer cabaret act - we try to make sure we stay topical! But our audiences have been enjoying the song so much we thought we'd put it on YouTube. We also wanted to take this opportunity to give a shout out to March of the Mermaids, which is a great event taking place in Brighton tomorrow to raise money for the Marine Conservation Society. Although sadly our mermaids can't make it this year, it's bound to be a great day out. ![]() Mermaid Melusine reports: Good afternoon, merfans! Myself and mermaid Ondine have been getting a little jealous of mermaid Lorelei's adventures in various warm and sunny places! So to cheer ourselves up we've been going through some pictures from last summer, including this lovely set of photos from a children's pool party in Cambridge, taken by local photographer Karen Eng.
And if your child doesn't like the water, or you don't want to hire a pool - don't worry! Our mermaids also do children's parties on dry land, giving every child the chance to meet a mermaid. Plus we offer lots of fun extras like face painting, the chance to dress up in a mermaid tail, arts and crafts, sing-along songs or even a balloon-modelling pirate. Every child is different, so every party is different - get in touch now to discuss how we can make your child's dreams come true!
![]() Mermaid Ondine reports: Well, it's been over a month since the Neon Moon Burlesque and Cabaret Club Valentine's Ball - but better a late blog entry than no blog entry, right? For this event, the Merlesque mermaids were given a bathroom of our very own at the beautiful stately home Anstey Hall, to take over for the night! Of course that could only mean that there would be a pair of vintage-styled sirens sitting in the bathtub, singing a few cheeky songs and playing the ukulele - but we also wanted to take advantage of the full opportunities afforded by the rest of the amazing old-fashioned bathroom... while remaining in keeping with the Valentine's Day theme of the ball. So Mermaid Melusine and myself racked our brains for a little while...
...and the flip side was the Toilet Of Heartbreak, in which guests could flush away bad memories of the past and start afresh! As you can see from the pictures at the bottom, we managed to coax a few unorthodox confessions of love out of the guests... ![]() The night itself passed in a blur! Of course, as mermaids we can't walk, so we had to recruit the very lovely Captain Chap to carry us through the winding corridors of Anstey Hall to our bathroom - which created quite a stir amongst the guests. We had a whale of a time singing and playing the ukulele (the bathroom had excellent acoustics), handing out sugar lovehearts, chatting to guests and encouraging them to interact with the Shower Of Love and the Toilet Of Heartbreak. At one point in the evening we were paid a visit by Adam, Eve and a Burmese python named Django, who seemed to enjoy the chance to explore our bathtub. It was a magical evening, and all the other performers deserve a shout out, they were incredible! Plus - as ever at Neon Moon events - the guests were lovely too. Were you at the Neon Moon Valentine's Ball at Anstey Hall in February? We'd love to see your pictures - why not share them on our Facebook page! |
